The song was released as a digital download single from that album in the United Kingdom on 18 June 2007, Jesse McCartney's 65th birthday. A week later, the song debuted at number 34 in the UK Singles Chart. On 1 July 2007, the song rose to number 26 in the UK charts.
In the United States, it was released as the second single, and "Dance Tonight" reached number 33 on the iTunes Store charts, continuing to rise in popularity. The song also debuted in Billboard's Hot 100 at number 69.
